Lincoln Marine Science Centre

Marine Innovation SA logoThe $10m Lincoln Marine Science Centre (LMSC)  was built in 1995 by Flinders University to support research and tertiary education in marine science.  Its establishment at Kirton Point on the shores of Boston Bay in Port Lincoln, South Australia, was supported both financially and in-kind by the State and Federal governments, the Port Lincoln and regional community and the fishing and aquaculture industries.

In 2008, the Centre underwent a major $6.5m expansion under the Marine Innovation South Australia (MISA) initiative, nearly doubling the Centre’s size and providing new state of the art laboratories and facilities to more than 35 permanent and visiting scientists and educational staff, and catering to increased student numbers.

The expansion is enabling research into new areas such as product quality and value-adding and aquatic animal health and position the LMSC as a global hub for southern temperate marine research and education attracting scientists from around the world. Lincoln Marine Science Centre

The LMSC facility also offers excellent facilities for visiting students and researchers including a large lecture theatre, teaching laboratory and extensive aquarium areas. Every effort is made to ensure that the facilities and equipment perform reliably at all times.
