Roles and expertise:

Mr Hutchinson completed an aquaculture related MSc at the University of Tasmania in 1994 and joined SARDI. He has extensive knowledge and experience in finfish propagation, larval and juvenile rearing, as well as in the design of aquaculture systems, in particular those involving recirculation.  His research on striped trumpeter, snapper, King George whiting, mulloway and yellowtail kingfish has been closely aligned to the commercialisation of these species in South Australia.

Mr Hutchinson has considerable experience in the design and construction of aquaculture systems for research and production including the SA Aquatic Sciences Centre R&D Hatchery, the R&D pool farm redevelopment, West Beach; and the Marine Aquaculture Centre, Singapore. Recently he had a key role in the establishment of the Waikerie Inland Saline Aquaculture Centre (WISAC) investigating productive uses for saline ground water from salt interception schemes.
