Sowing for the 2008 season began relatively early at most sites with generally good early growth. However, the very dry spring resulted in much reduced grain yields at several sites.
As well, variety maturity played an important part in grain yield with earlier flowering varieties performing well. In many cases, hybrids with greater early vigour, produced a large amount of growth but could not then fill grain and grain yields were below expectations. ......full overview. (.pdf)
