Consumer & Sensory Evaluation

The Food Innovation and Value Chain team offers a wide range of testing methods for food, wine and other beverages to provide real solutions for growers, manufacturers and suppliers.  As competition to attract consumers increases, the importance of consumer and sensory evaluation has never been greater. Sensory evaluation helps customers to reduce risks, improve their products consumer appeal and enhance quality of outcomes.

Sensory analysis methods are used to measure the impact of product sensory characteristics as a result of different processes such as packaging, storage, new processing equipment or changing ingredients.

The team is multi disciplined and highly experienced to deliver processing support and cost-effective solutions tailored to client’s goals.  Qualified sensory technologist, food technologists and packaging experts are available to provide advice and support during trials. A fully trained team of expert sensory assessors are able to describe the major components of aroma, flavour and texture that distinguish products using consumer-based language.

Sensory evaluation is conducted in a modern facility which features independent tasting booths with controlled temperature and lighting, a computerised data collection system, fully equipped kitchen, and a meeting room. Mobile testing can be conducted on-site using portable booths.
