Field day `Managing the condition of pregnant ewes grazing saltbush: a skilled approach' May 1 2009
Field day will look at helping pregnant ewes to thrive while grazing on saltbush near Coomandook. Field day supported by the Coorong District Local Action Plan Committee, SARDI, the Federal Government's Caring for Our Country program and the Future Farm Industries Cooperative Research Centre Enrich program.
Sheep CRC Information Nucleus Open Day, Turretfield Research Centre, 2 April 2009
The Sheep CRC's Information Nucleus Program will feature at the Open Day at Turretfield Research Centre. The program is designed to accelerate genetic gain in the sheep industry and provide detailed information about the interaction between genetics and the management environment. Stage II of the Lincoln Marine Science Centre (LMSC) at Port Lincoln will be launched, Wednesday March 2009, reinforcing the strong collaborative relationship between marine science researchers and the South Australian seafood industry. The Port Lincoln and regional community are invited to tour the new facilities, view displays and talk to researchers about their work from 1.30pm to 4.00pm. Light refreshments will be available. Want to build a resilient farming business that’s adaptable and responsive to changes in climate?
The Advisory Board of Agriculture is holding 14 workshops across the State, providing farmers with the latest information and tools to assist them in managing the impacts of a variable climate. The workshops are Coordinated by Rural Solutions SA, and will include presentations by the SARDI Climate Applications Unit and the Bureau of Meteorology, with input from CSIRO and the Department of Water, Land and Biodiversity Conservation. SARDI's Plant and Soil Health science program is hosting the Australian Forum on Proximal Crop Sensors on behalf of the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) involving 35 overseas and Australian research decision-makers and experts from multiple industries. The forum will discuss opportunities to improve spatial management of crops using GPS linked digital data. Options considered range from improved fertiliser and pesticide applications, to improved weed management and devising optimal harvesting strategies. Forum is fully booked. Further details: John Heap
