EXTREME 12.jpg (47194 bytes)

This photo shows patches of wool remaining on the rump region of a sheep born with a normal fleece cover but featuring progressive wool loss with age.

EXTREME 14.jpg (59820 bytes)

This sheep is a felting lustre mutant - (see close-up of parted fleece).

EXTREME 5.jpg (51442 bytes)

Samples of wool from a normal merino (left side) and a felting lustre mutant merino (right side). Note the defined crimp pattern in the normal fibres, compared with the wavy fibres of the lustre mutant.

EXTREME 4.jpg (45992 bytes)

This photo shows a sample of wool from a felting lustre mutant sheep.
