Root Lesion Nematode Pratylenchus information on the Grains Research and Development Corporation website (GRDC) (external link)

Occurrence of root lesion nematodes (Pratylenchus spp.) in wheat and barley crops in the high rainfall region of Victoria.

Definitions

Resistance - resistant plants limit nematode multiplication and will reduce the number of nematodes for the following year/crop.

Susceptible - susceptible plants allow nematode multiplication and usually result in increased numbers for the following year/crop.

Tolerant - tolerant plants suffer minimal yield loss in the presence of nematodes.

Intolerant - intolerant plants suffer yield loss in the presence of nematodes.

Anhydrobiosis - dormant state, associated with reduced metabolic activity, that allow nematodes to survive periods of desiccation.
