Overview of experience

Robyn has close to five years experience in consumer science and food technology. She was most recently employed at Rhodes Food Group in the Western Cape Winelands (South Africa) as New Product Development Technologist developing local and export products for brands such as Tesco and Morrisons (UK) as well as SPC Ardmona and Woolworths Select (Aus). She has experience in new product development from formulation to industrial production. Prior to Rhodes, Robyn was employed at Kalk Bay Foods (a division of major condiment manufacturer Cape Herb & Spice) based in Cape Town, where she gained experience developing herb and spice blends as well as Fine Food Gifting options utilising small local producers and manufacturing for local markets and European export. She is passionate about the food industry, about developing opportunities for innovative new products and assisting food businesses to grow and succeed.

Previous Positions and Qualifications

2008-2010: NPD Technologist - Rhodes Food Group (Western Cape, South Africa). Developed processed fruit products, innovative new concepts and packaging for export market and application of natural flavours and colours

2008: Food Technologist – Kalk Bay Foods (Cape Town, South Africa).
Developed herb and spice blend gourmet products, fine food gifting products and packaging

2006-2008: Health product development & management – Nuyu Clinic (Western Cape, South Africa). Development of Low G.I health products and recipes, menu planning for restricted diets, management and staff training.

2006: Bachelor of Consumer Science (Food), Stellenbosch University, South Africa

  • Luxury Spice Concepts: Product & packaging development
  • Adult Fruit in Jelly Range: Development of "super fruit" jelly products in new shape packaging for the UK.
  • Natural Flavours & Colours: Testing of natural flavours and colours for heat processed fruit products and reducing the use of artificial additives
  • Polypropylene Packaging: Development and testing of plastic packaging for heat processed products
  • Corrugated Carton Introduction: Development of shelf ready cartons for export fruit cup products
