Roles and expertise:
Cathy joined the Entomology Unit of SARDI in September 2001. Her primary task is to undertake a project investigating the use of the sterile insect technique for eradication of Mediterranean fruit fly outbreaks in South Australia. Cathy’s focus will be to look at the pattern progress of med fly invasions in Adelaide, and to assess the impact of various eradication strategies incorporating the sterile insect technique. Her prior research experience includes the behavioural ecology of millipedes, assessing the impact of an imported biocontrol agent on sheep blowfly and non-target organisms, and investigating ecological factors important in the population dynamics of native tick species.
