Roles and expertise:

  • My core role is extension of IPM in vegetables and other aspects of improved crop health including compost for disease suppression.
  • My long-term engagement with the vegetable industry enables me to identify and track industry needs and assist with applied R&D planning and implementation. This approach acts to facilitate industry development and develop new R&D options.

Experience:

  • Managing and delivering vocational training programs
  • Planning, delivering and evaluating IPM extension using an action learning approach wherever possible
  • Facilitating local vegetable industry consultations and participating in national strategic planning and co-ordination chiefly for IPM

Current and recent projects:

Current: Compost for disease suppression extension (SARDI project funded by the compost industry, Zero Waste SA and NLP)
Pending: Greenhouse hygiene and Good Agricultural Practice extension (SARDI and NSW DPI projects funded by HAL)
2000 – 2006: Vegetable IPM extension for Western Flower Thrips (various SARDI projects funded by HAL)
2006-7: Strategic planning support for IPM, greenhouse industry and insecticide gap analysis
2001-07: Facilitation of key external partnerships for the SARDI Revegetation by Design project
