Soil Water Extractor
Knowledge of soil water composition is critical for sustainable irrigation practices. The SWE is a custom-designed tool for drawing moisture from the soil for analysis. It is easy to install at any depth and sampling can be done at any time.
Irrigators can use the extractor and a simple salinity meter to measure the amount of salt in the root zone
Soil water collected by the extractor can be analysed for acidity or alkalinity, or a range of major and minor elements, including monitoring the movement of nitrogen through the soil profile.
SARDI Soil Water Extractor: A Tool for Managing Salt and Nutrient Movement in the Root Zone (.PDF 257.1KB) gives more details about the structure and uses of the SWE, and information about where to purchase it.
